Why blog? What’s the point?
I’ve actually “started” many blogs. I wrote a few posts,
erased a few posts and some never got more than a title. It’s been a New Years
resolution for at least four or five years. I even took one of those online
workshops for blogging. I didn’t finish that either. I think because I couldn’t
answer the WHY?
Why do I want to write a blog?
At first this seems a simple question. After many years,
much thought and a lot of back and forth, I think I’m finally starting to get
it. At least I do for me right now at this point in my life. I think the answer
is different for everyone. It’s a very personal thing starting a blog.
To answer WHY?, is not so simple, at least it’s not for me.
There isn’t just one reason.
It’s complicated.
It will probably define itself and become clearer to me as I
do it. That is as long as I stick with it this time.
Basically the gist is this…
I’m hoping the process of writing this blog will teach me a
lot about myself, help challenge me to learn about my passions and interests
and make me accountable enough to stay motivated. I want to create a habit of
writing on a regular basis to improve not only my writing skills but also my
communication and self-expression. I want to challenge myself in so many ways,
trying new things, learning new skills, facing my fears and connecting with
people who can relate.
To be successful in anything you do I believe it’s important
to surround yourself with people that encourage and support your
goals/passions/dreams. It’s a very scary thing to allow myself to be vulnerable
and open up in such a public way. I wish I could just put it all out there
without so much trepidation.
Baby steps.
